Success Stories

Throughout your term as a CAP YI you will be asked for success stories. These are a few paragraphs at most that will detail something beneficial that has happened due to the CAP Site being there. Something as simple as someone that learned how to use email or do a resume. To something more advanced such as a training program you were able to run. Pasted below are some examples of Success Stories.

*Note* Please include a copy of a filled out release form with each success story you send in.  The link for that form is at the bottom of the page.*

Helping Connect People in Rural Area’s March 25th 2009 Tatlayoko LakeBC When you live in rural area’s understanding what connectivity means can be a thing that feels out of your reach. The CAP Program in the Cariboo Chilcotin Region is trying to help close this gap by doing home call outs to help people with technical issues or connection issues. Today a home was visited at the on the middle of a small mountainside and the internet was connected into their home via a dial-up connection. This will enable them to work more efficiently from home and stay more in touch with family friends and what is going on in the world. It’s small ways like this that CAP can help bridge the digital divide and bring the wonderful world of technology to people that still require it.

Working Together to Train the Trainers. Jan 5th – Jan 7th 2009 Courtney BC Great things can happen when two Networks come together and share knowledge and resources as was proven when the Cariboo Chilcotin Regional Network teamed up with CVCISS in a 3 day Train the Train workshop on Video Production. Five CAP Youth were trained in Video Production from the first initial using of a camera to the post production of editing and burning a DVD. These CAP Youth can now take the skills they learned and put them to work in their CAP Site by offering courses or simply having the knowledge if people come in and want to learn more about film. The two Networks also swapped knowledge based on each others strong suits. The RC from CCRN learned more about website design to take back and utilize in their Network, while the RC from CVCISS learned how to use an Industry Standard Video Editing Program. Both Networks would like to work together again as they found the experience very worth while and a great benefit to their Networks.
